80th Anniversary of VE-Day and the Battle of the Atlantic
The Calgary Salutes Committee invites Calgarians to come out and commemorate the 80th Anniversary of VE-Day and the Battle of the Atlantic Parade.
The Parade will be a “static” parade and will take place Sunday, May 4, 2025 at 10:30 AM in the Calgary Municipal Plaza (Macleod Trail SE between 7th and 9th Avenue SE).
Event highlights include:
Remarks from senior Military leaders, elected officials and other dignitaries
A City of Calgary Proclamation
Battle of Atlantic Commemoration
Military personnel, Cadets, Royal Canadian Legion members, and First Responders will be present for the Parade – a proud and powerful representation of our community’s service and sacrifice.
Additionally, in partnership with The Military Museum, there will be a special VE-Day anniversary presentation on Thursday, May 8, 2025 - the actual 80th Anniversary of VE-Day. Dr. Christine Leppard, PhD., a military historian and history professor will deliver an insightful presentation on Calgary’s contribution to the war effort.
