Read MoreA new 2.45 kilometre 3-metre-wide multi-use pathway is being constructed on the east side of 68 Street NE between Abbotsford Drive and Applewood Drive NE.
This pathway will provide a dedicated space for people to safely walk and wheel through the community and will connect to the city's larger network of pathways and bikeways.
Construction is expected to begin in late July 2025 and be completed in Q3 2026, weather and conditions permitting.

While previous assessments indicated that repairs were not immediately necessary, recent findings confirmed the need for prompt action to protect the safety of staff and facility users. The closure is required to complete critical electrical repairs, including an upgrade to the electrical bonding system, which will ensure all metal components on the pool deck are properly grounded—significantly enhancing safety for all users. Additional work includes sump pump and railing replacements to meet current safety standards.

Curb extensions on the west side to shorten pedestrian crossing distances and increase visibility
Updated wheelchair ramps on the east side to meet modern accessibility standards
Good news for Calgary: both lanes of the 4 Avenue Flyover are now open during peak hours, ahead of schedule!
Since April, the bridge had been reduced to a single lane of traffic in order to accommodate essential upgrades, extending the life of Calgary’s longest bridge for decades to come.
