Celebrate Neighbour Day - June 21st, 2025
Neighbour Day is Calgary’s annual celebration of community spirit, connection, and belonging. It’s a reminder that building welcoming, inclusive neighbourhoods starts with small acts, like a friendly conversation or lending a helping hand. When neighbours connect, communities grow stronger and everyone benefits.
Join the celebration by hosting a block party, BBQ, or neighbourhood gathering on June 21!
Once again, block party and greenspace permits will be free for Neighbour Day events.
New this year: Non-profit organizations can apply for the #YYCNeighbourDay microgrant, with up to $2,500 available to help bring your event to life. Make sure to apply for both your event permit and microgrant by May 31, 2025.
Want to invite more neighbours? Add your event to The City’s Neighbour Day calendar so others can find it—and join in the fun! You can even request a special guest appearance from Mayor Gondek, your Councillor (that’s me!), or a fire truck to make your gathering extra special.
More ways to celebrate:
The Calgary Public Library is supporting Neighbour Day with its Book Truck—a mobile library full of books, movies, and activities for all ages. You can invite it to your event or book a space at your local library to host a celebration.
Sport Calgary’s All Sport One Day also takes place on June 21. It’s a chance for kids to try a new sport for free while supporting local sport programs through donations of gently used equipment.
Learn more, apply for your permits and microgrant, and add your event to the calendar at calgary.ca/NeighbourDay.
Let’s make this year’s Neighbour Day the most connected one yet!
