Bridgeland Main Street Project: Temporary Parking Changes - May 9
As part of the ongoing construction along 1 Avenue N.E. in Bridgeland, the City of Calgary will be adjusting road closures on 1 Avenue N.E. and shifting temporary parking restrictions and vehicle detours around the area to help facilitate the safe construction and safe public navigation around new streetscape improvement work.
We anticipate the new lane closure and parking changes will begin Friday, May 9, 2025, and will remain in effect for the duration of this stage of the construction (expected to be roughly 8 weeks). The graphic below outlines these temporary changes.
Consturction Impacts:
During this period, individuals will be able to not be able to park:
Along the north side of 1 Avenue between 7 Street to 8A Street N.E.
Along the north side of 1 Avenue just east of 9 Street N.E.
Along the west side of 7 Street between 1 Ave and Centre Ave N.E.
Permit parking at several locations, as outlined in the map attached, have been temporarily converted to allow for 2-hour public parking during construction. However, permit parking will still be available for holders of 'G' and 'AAA' parking permits.
We are encouraging residents to follow all detour and parking signage during this time.
Our team has sent letters and will be reaching out directly with affected businesses and properties to advise them of these coming changes.
Ongoing ENMAX Work:
ENMAX Power continues to work hard on completing utility upgrades along 1 Ave N.E. between 4 St. and 6 St. N.E.
Crews are currently working to complete activities on 1 Avenue between Edmonton Trail to 6 Street N.E., aiming to reopen road access by May 9, 2025.
Following completion of that work, their team will aim to complete night work over the following week to install underground trenched utility crossings under the intersection of 1 Avenue and Edmonton Trail.
After the night utility crossing work is completed, they will look to coordinate utility installations under 1 Avenue between 4 Street and Edmonton Trail N.E. This stage of work is currently tentatively scheduled to occur starting the week of May 19, and progress for approximately 4 - 6 weeks. ENMAX and our City project team will coordinate with affected properties to coordinate access and support businesses through the construction impacts.
Regular updates will continue to be posted on the project website, or questions can be sent to: bridgelandmainstreet@calgary.ca.
