Construction Notice: Street Improvements at 5 Avenue + 8 Street NE

As part of the City’s commitment to creating safer and more accessible streets for all users, the following upgrades are being made at all four corners of the intersection at 5 Avenue + 8 Street NE:

• Curb extensions on the west side to shorten pedestrian crossing distances and increase visibility

• Updated wheelchair ramps on the east side to meet modern accessibility standards

These improvements aim to enhance pedestrian safety, support barrier-free access, and create a more comfortable experience for people walking, using mobility aids, or cycling through the area.

Construction is being carried out by our contractor, ALSA Road Construction, during off-peak daytime hours (Monday to Saturday, 9 am – 3 pm) to reduce traffic disruption and support efficient project delivery.
