4 Avenue flyover reopening ahead of schedule
Good news for Calgary: both lanes of the 4 Avenue Flyover are now open during peak hours, ahead of schedule!
Since April, the bridge had been reduced to a single lane of traffic in order to accommodate essential upgrades, extending the life of Calgary’s longest bridge for decades to come.
While the major work is now behind us, finishing touches to the flyover are still underway. Commuters can expect some off-peak (9 am to 3 pm) single lane closures over the summer to fully complete the planned work to the bridge. No closures will occur during the Calgary Stampede to keep traffic moving smoothly. The site is still an active construction area, so we ask motorists to proceed with caution and respect all posted signage while crews wrap up.
