Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Phase Two: Spring Project Update
Phase Two of the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk (IST) project is underway, with an anticipated completion date of July 2025.
As part of this project a concrete shaft was built above the normal ground elevation that will need to be leveled with the surrounding greenspace. Due to this, the top two metres of this shaft will need to be demolished to bring it below normal ground elevation so we can eventually plant grass and restore its original look. Once this has been completed, there will be manholes and a curved pipe/vent called a “gooseneck,” along with paving stones in the area so crews have access for required maintenance.
Spring Construction Schedule
End of April – Early June 2025
The intersection at 8 Ave and 9 St S.E. will be closed for approximately eight weeks while crews remove the roof slabs, repair the existing liner inside of the large sanitary chamber and reinstate and repave the road.
When crews were preparing to retrieve the micro-tunnel machine into the existing chamber that was constructed in 2020 for Phase One, deficiencies with the liner were identified. This liner will be removed, and a new liner will be installed.
Pedestrians will have ongoing access to the sidewalk.
Cyclists will have a dedicated lane on the roadway.
Flaggers will be onsite to detour vehicle traffic as necessary.
Early May 2025
Landscaping along the green space between 7 Ave S.E. and the Bow River is anticipated to begin in early May and will be completed by July 2025.
Site trailers located on the greenspace between 7 Ave S.E. and the Bow River will be relocated to the 7 Ave S.E. alley to ensure landscaping can be properly completed. These trailers will not impact traffic flow in the alley. Trailers will be removed in July 2025.
Spring 2025
Crews will be onsite at the northeast corner of 8 Ave and 9 St S.E. to removal the temporary water line that had previously been installed as part of phase two of this work. The line is underground in the 9 St S.E. alley and runs across 7 Ave S.E. This will take approximately one week to remove.
Flaggers will be on site to ensure the flow of traffic and assist with parking in the alley and along 7 Ave S.E.
ENMAX will be onsite at 7 Ave between 8 St and 10 St S.E. to remove a power source that had been previously installed as part of phase two of this work. This power source runs 7 Ave S.E. This will take approximately one week to remove.
Flaggers will be on site to ensure the flow of traffic and assist with parking.
