FINAL CONCEPT: 50TH AVE SE EXTENSION
JULY 2025: FINAL CONCEPT PROJECT UPDATE
The City of Calgary is nearing completion of a Functional Planning Study for an extension of 50 Avenue SE, from Macleod Trail to Deerfoot Trail SE We are now in the Final Concept phase of the study.
The 50 Avenue SE study plans for future growth, mobility improvements, and evolving transportation needs in Calgary. It will provide mobility options for planning purposes and a crucial east-west connection in Calgary benefiting all road users, and all modes of transport. The extension will also enhance the links between existing industrial, residential, and commercial areas in Southeast Calgary.
Since Phase 1 Engagement in late 2023 - early 2024, the project team has conducted thorough technical analysis of the 50 Avenue SE Extension. The project schedule was adjusted to ensure a coordinated approach with other City projects planned nearby – in particular, the South Central Bus Garage Feasibility Study and its findings.
