Work will occur on City-owned property and no significant impacts are expected on roadways. Each test will take one to two days. Read MoreBeginning March 17 through to early April, the Green Line is undertaking a series of borehole tests, identifying utility locations along the future LRT alignment. The objective of this project is to determine whether existing utilities (owned by ATCO, ENMAX, The City of Calgary, Bell, TELUS and Shaw/Rogers) along the Green Line route need to be relocated or can be protected in place.
Test sites are limited to City-owned property but may impact general traffic in the area. There are approximately 200 locations across the SE Segment of the Green Line LRT, on City-owned land. Each investigation is expected to take one day with work happening between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Where there are potential impacts to residences or businesses, the Green Line team will contact those who may be directly affected.

The new South Central Bus Garage will provide the capacity to double the number of buses currently accommodated at Victoria Park over time, ensuring we can continue to provide reliable transit options to Calgarians.

At Manitou Rd SE, during storms, flooding and pooling are common. This project work will upgrade the existing storm infrastructure with the installation of manholes, backflow prevention valves and raising driveways to reduce pooling and flooding issues.
The City needs to raise the driveway entrances of the following locations on Manitou Rd SE:
315 Manitou Rd SE.
415 Manitou Rd SE.
419-439 Manitou Rd SE.
Construction is scheduled to begin the week of July 8, 2024, and will take approximately five weeks to complete.
Phase 1: 315 & 415 Manitou Rd SE - July 8 – Aug 2, 2024 – Underground, Concrete & Asphalt works
July 8 – July 15 - Single lane closure on eastbound Manitou Rd SE.
Flagger will be present on site to direct traffic and alert drivers of lane closure.
Signage will be placed on Manitou RD SE to notify road users of the upcoming construction.
Phase 2: 419 - 439 Manitou Rd SE - July 17 - 31, 2024 – Underground, Concrete & Asphalt works
July 17 – July 18 - Full road closure in the vicinity of 419 Manitou RD SE, with detours provided via Manitoba Rd SE & Manilla Rd SE
July 19 – July 22 - Single lane closure on eastbound Manitou Rd SE.
An increase in on-site construction activity including construction crews, vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Increased noise, vibration and dust.
Parking restrictions on both sides of the road, within the work area.
Sidewalk closure with fencing and signage placed around the work area.
Construction will be weather dependent, and timelines may change due to weather, underground conditions and/or other unexpected circumstances.
Work hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Phase 3: REFINE of the Chinook Communities Local Area Planning project is taking place May 28 – June 24, 2024. In this phase, we are looking to further discuss and refine how redevelopment and revitalization could happen in the Chinook Communities of Bel-Aire, Britannia, Elboya, Mayfair, Meadowlark Park, Parkhill, Windsor Park, Manchester, a south portion of Manchester Industrial and a small eastern portion of Glenmore Park.
