Phase 2: Dover Neighbourhood Streets Project Update - Summer 2025
Phase 2 of the Dover Neighbourhood Streets project will begin mid-summer 2025.
The project team is finalizing designs using resident feedback to improve pedestrian visibility, slow down traffic and create safer crossings throughout the community – especially around schools.
Construction Plans:
Phase 2: Dovercliffe Way S.E., Dover Ridge S.E., 28 St S.E., 36 St S.E. and 41 St S.E. improvements
Permanent curb extensions to decrease crossing distances
New wheelchair ramps
New Sidewalk and pathway improvements
Seeding, watering, mowing and weed control of naturalized areas on 34 Avenue S.E. throughout the season
Phase 3: Additional upgrades on 34 Ave S.E.
Anticipated in 2026, Phase 3 will focus on making the 34 Avenue S.E. improvements permanent to replace the temporary materials used during Phase 1 in 2023.
Funding is in place to improve upon the initial 34 Ave S.E. design.
Make temporary curb and gutter, painted barrier and pathway improvements permanent.
Incorporate “What We Heard” community feedback
New grass boulevard spaces to replace unused asphalt from former driving lanes
Initial 34 Avenue S.E. improvements (Phase 1 – Completed)
We repurposed the north side of the corridor for new two-way wheeling lanes and enhanced median and boulevard spaces.
Vehicle traffic shifted to the south side of the corridor into one lane of traffic in each direction, plus turning lanes at 26 Street and 36 Street S.E.
Existing sidewalks on the north and south sides of the corridor remain.
Phase 1 construction was completed Summer 2023.
