East Belvedere Feeder Main | Phase 1 Construction
The City of Calgary is continuing construction on the East Belvedere Feeder Main with construction for Phase 1 anticipated to start this fall. This new 2-kilometre-long feeder main is an essential piece of water infrastructure that will bring clean and reliable drinking water to current and future development within the East Belvedere community.
The feeder main is being constructed in phases. Phase 1 includes the installation of a feeder main along Memorial Drive from 68 Street S.E. to 84 Street S.E. and then eastward along a future extension of Memorial Drive. Phase 2a, where construction also starts this fall, includes the portion from 84 Street S.E. to 100 Street S.E. along the future extension of Memorial Drive. Phase 2b, which was completed this spring (2025) includes the portion on 100 Street S.E. on the future extension of Memorial Drive travelling south to 17 Avenue S.E.
Construction for Phase 1 and Phase 2a begins this fall and is scheduled to be complete in one year. The first section of construction takes place in the grassed area east of Memorial Drive. Once a contractor is on board, you will receive more information on the timeline and what to expect during construction.
Construction Impacts + Project Schedule
The project scheduled to run from Fall 2025 – Fall 2026, weather permitting.
Construction Impacts
Residents will notice heavy truck traffic and noise in the area.
Construction hours for this project are, generally, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The contractor will take steps to limit the amount of dust in the work area.
The City does not expect vibration impacts from construction to affect private properties.
Construction has been designed to minimize disruptions as much as possible. However, there may be some road/lane closures in the area. Residents, businesses and organizations will be kept informed prior and during construction through mailed construction notices and through our project website: www.calgary.ca/EastBelvedereFeederMain, which we plan to launch later this summer.
