It was a busy summer for crews working on the 4th Ave Flyover Rehabilitation project.
Since our last update, crews have:
Removed the existing curb and deck concrete overlay;
Completed pours of the new curb and deck on the left-hand lane; and
Replaced the cast to finish the roadway barrier sections.
Please be prepared for upcoming overnight closures rotating between Riverfront Avenue and Memorial Drive/Edmonton Trail NE beginning on September 23rd, 2024. The closures are anticipated to occur overnight (9:00 pm to 5:00 am) and last approximately four weeks.

Construction on the East Belvedere Water Feeder Main will result in sections of 100 Street S.E. being closed beginning in approximately mid-September 2024.
This new feeder main is an essential piece of water infrastructure that will bring clean, reliable drinking water to future development within the East Belvedere community. PME Inc. will be executing the construction on behalf of Truman Development Corporation in partnership with The City of Calgary.

Caitlind Brown & Monica Ila are two Ramsay-based artists who have been working on an immersive mural for the underpass beneath the train line on 11th-12th Street SE. This underpass is an important pedestrian corridor and the primary connector between Ramsay, Inglewood, and the Bow River.
Together with the Ramsay Community Association, they’ve coordinated with both the City of Calgary and CPKC (formerly CP Rail) to animate the underpass with a bright and colourful mural. The mural design will be inspired by hyper-local histories, stories, and myths from the neighbourhood.
Earlier this spring, neighbours in Manchester came together to build a new community garden space for residents to learn about and grow food, herbs, and flowers together.
Community gardens help enhance the health and well-being of neighbourhoods and communities by providing the space and opportunity for people of all skill levels to learn and interact. They are a place where people can connect with nature, better understand where their food comes from, and provide opportunities for sharing and learning.

As part of the Chestermere 17 Avenue SE Water Meter Chamber project, The City of Calgary is installing a new water meter and accompanying chamber along 17 Avenue SE near the city limits, They will also be decommissioning an existing water chamber meter.

If you’ve travelled along 11th/12th Street SE in Inglewood or Ramsay over the last several weeks, you’ll have noticed a reconfiguration of the protected wheeling lane between the Zoo Bridge in Inglewood (8th Ave SE) and the former Lilydale site in Ramsay (21st Ave SE.)
These changes are a temporary setup to what will eventually be a robust public realm redesign along 11/12 Street SE as we begin to build the GreenLine.
This construction season, as part of the Bridgeland Main Street Project, The City is completing sidewalk and streetscape improvements along 1 Avenue NE between 11 Street to 6 Street NE. Crews are finishing construction on the south side of 1 Avenue between 7A Street to 8A Street NE and we are targeting completion by the end of August 2024.

Starting August 15, there will be road upgrades to 78 Avenue SE west of Ogden Road. 78 Avenue SE east of Ogden Road to 27 Street is open to local traffic. The closure is expected to last approximately six weeks.

The City of Calgary will be providing sidewalk, intersection, streetlight, and traffic safety improvements on Dartmouth Road SE and 24 Avenue SE.
Starting mid-August, City contractor, ALSA Road Construction, will:
Build a new sidewalk, curb extension and wheelchair ramp on 24 Ave SE
Build a new sidewalk along Dartmouth Road SE from 24 Ave to 26 Ave SE
Install new streetlighting on Dartmouth Road SE
Resurface the road following recent water main upgrades
We anticipate this project being complete in about four weeks time, wrapping up construction mid-September (weather permitting.)
During construction, there will be temporarily detour traffic in place. Crews will be working during non-peak hours, from 9 am to 3 pm, to minimize traffic disruptions and ensure timely completion.
To make room for the new sidewalks, curb extensions, and driveway aprons, there will be some permanent changes to parking in the area.
The new Dartmouth Road SE sidewalk and driveway aprons will be built in The City’s right of way on the east side of the road. Business parking currently on The City’s right of way will be permanently removed to allow for these improvements.
To make room for the new curb extension on 24 Avenue SE, there will a permanent reduction to the amount of on-street parking from the corner of 8 Street SE to Dartmouth Road SE

In the past, checks have been unannounced, however after feedback from Calgarians and following the lead of other municipalities, The City of Calgary is piloting a program that provides advanced notification to residents prior to doing cart checks.
